My Sansui VRDVD4001 Progressive Scan DVD/VCR Combo will not read my dvd's...it keeps giving an error...after trying to read, it says incorrect disc.

I can't find my manual. Can someone please tell me what I can do to fix this.

Thanks!

There are different Discs to be used. DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW as well as Discs for higher speed. Are you sure you are using same Discs as before ?

Hope some owner of 4001 model can give you the answer.

Hmm...I did not try different types of discs. All I have used in it is movie discs, like from blockbuster. I will have to see if there is some change or difference.

Thanks

We have a Sansui combination VCR/DVD, Model VRDVD4005.  All of a sudden, it won't recognize DVD's......it will play VCR tapes, but no DVD's.  It will say "Reading" on the screen and then comes a message saying it's the wrong kind of disc.........The problem is that we've played the DVD before and it ran like a champ.....now nothing.........It seems to be stuck in the VCR mode.  Also, Line 1 and Line 2 will appear on our TV screen.......HELP!

We bought this model at Sears about two years ago.  I did not call them, but I did call Orion and they said to get a disc cleaner and try that first.  If that does not work, they gave me a name of a repair shop in our area.  I'd recommend that anyone else who has this problem try the disc cleaner first, then call Orion to get the name of a repair shop in their area.

They were very helpful!

Thanks, Jeanie

Thanks Keeper, emailed orion ,my model number is 4005.

They MAY have a cd update so I can change to the 16dvd speed discs.

I previously recorded over 20 discs with no problem??

I have a Sansui VRDVD4001. DVD sound is fine, VCR sound and picture fine, but no DVD picture. Fix the DVD picture by putting your dvd in and pressing play, then press stop (sometimes you actually have to hit stop twice), then click the "progressive" button on the remote. The "P" on the dvd display should disappear and your dvd picture should re-appear.
